This started with a simple wish: capture a thought without opening a phone. The M5Stack StopWatch becomes a dedicated recorder, with local audio storage, deliberate syncing, and a companion workflow that turns recordings into usable notes.
From a button press to a note
Record on the handheld, archive through the private cloud gateway, and process the recording in Kopi Notes Studio. The publishing workflow can add the resulting note to an Obsidian daily note.
Keep the recording until it is safe
Local audio stays on the device until the complete archive has a verified receipt. The latest firmware resumes from verified chunks and makes connection, timeout, and retry states clearer.
Built, then tested in the real world
Version 0.9.2 is on the device. Reboot preservation, Wi-Fi cancellation, and standby checks passed; interrupted multi-chunk transfer passed locally and still needs its real Wi-Fi test. Everyday recording feel remains part of the iteration.
